Working GT 540m Driver found

This is for those of you who were hunting for a working driver for your shiny new L502x's GT 540m



v267.21 Windows 7/Vista 64bit | ASUS Mobile - LaptopVideo2Go Forums



267.21 DOES work. Just install using the modified inf provided.



Games now recognise my GT 540m over my intel HD card. Very very happy with it.

It should. When doing normal stuff like browsing/watching vids, gpu-z reports that my GPU load on my GT 540m is 0%. Which i interpret as meaning my onboard intel HD card has successfully taken over.



Optimus state viewer also shows that my GPU is OFF

I'm actually taking a performance hit with this driver. Even Oc'd it's less than what it was with the old driver, not sure what's going on there.

My 3dmark score is on par with the old driver. Either Oc'ed or stock clocks. But tbh, its the only driver i've found that'll let games recognise my gt 540m over my intel hd card, this alone for me beats any slight performance decrease (not that i have any).



At stock drivers : 8288

With 267.21: 8280'ish also

I was hoping to not be the first to figure this out. I'll wait for more tests from anyone before I switch.



To anyone using this driver: Would you please post benchmark scores between the two drivers?

The difference is fairly marginal I guess between the two. I OC'd the chip just a bit more from 760/940 to 780/960 and it's running great now.



I don't think those speeds will do damage and I haven't had any issues so far, I'll do another benchmark before I go to bed for the day on another program (3rd shift worker here), and see what happens with temps. I will use SIW because GPU-z keeps locking up on me.

If I download the driver from LaptopVideo2go, does that automatically use the modified inf file, or do I have to do something else? I've never used anything from their site.

I downloaded the inf file separately and then placed it in the driver folder after it extracted and just replaced the old one. That seemed to do it for me.

Thanks, Joe. If/when I get my unit (I ordered on 22 Feb), I'll try this driver.
